Wild Strain Muscovy Drake We have spent many a long hour researching these ducks. They originate from the Pantanal in Brazil. The duck is very rare in its pure form as so many have crossed with domestic Muscovys both in the USA and the UK. It is not easy to truly appreciate the stunning depth of colour of the plumage of these birds in a photograph. Their plumage is both irredescant and metallic and quite beautiful. A wild strain drake, as illustrated, has a black face with a red crescent, pure white forewings and a pink band accross the bill. The females are a bit duller and about half the size of the drake. |
