Ouessant Sheep

Claimed to be the worlds smallest breed of sheep. they originate from ouessant islands from france they vary in colour black caramel and white. They generally only have single lambs wieghing only 1l/b at birth. They are a very hardy breed and dont seem to suffer from flystrike and other problems, unlike domestic breeds of sheep they are very small about the size of a pygmy goat. I must admit i was shocked when i first sheared one they look really small then, the best way i was advised to shear them was with dagging shears being they are small. You dont need a big field, a medium size garden would support 2. we keep ours in small paddocks they mix with the cows fine.
